15 Year Old Hurt In Truck/Tractor Accident

Drivers of a truck and a farm tractor were injured yesterday when a collision occurred three miles west of Plattsburg in Clinton county.

The highway patrol described injuries as serious for the operator of the tractor, 15 year old Jason Mink of Gower.

Mink was flown by medical helicopter to Children's Mercy Hospital of Kansas City. Driver of the truck, 47 year old Jodie Downs of St. Joseph received what the patrol called moderate injuries. Downs was taken by ambulance to Liberty Hospital.

The patrol investigator said the truck crested a hill and began to pass the farm tractor while the machinery was attempting to turn left onto a gravel road. Both the truck and farm tractor received extensive damage in the accident on Highway 116 in Clinton county.

In another incident reported by the highway patrol.

Two St. Joseph residents received moderate injuries late yesterday morning when their car went out of control on U-S 36 in southern DeKalb county; skidded across the center line, ran off the road where it struck an embankment and overturned onto its top in the median.

Taken by ambulance to Heartland Regional Medical Center were the driver, 20 year old Jesse Farnsworth and his passenger, 17 year old Sierra Wooten. The car was demolished in the U-S 36 accident just west of the Highway 33 junction.
