Troopers found John F. Rotterman, 66, of Union Star, in the truck that was fully engulfed by fire when they arrived on July 15.

The truck was on the side of US Highway 169 east of Union Star in DeKalb County. Rotterman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Highway Patrol is still investigating what caused Rotterman to go off the roadway.

Trooper Corey Root said an autopsy was underway to determine Rotterman's cause of death. The results of the autopsy have not been released.

Root said earlier this week that it is suspected the truck caught fire when it went off the road because of the tall, dry grass in the area. He said the heat of the engine likely sparked the fire.

Rotterman served as a commissioner in Andrew County.
