|Preliminary plans for Calamity Jane Days in September were discussed this week during a meeting of the Princeton chamber of commerce.|
These include a tractor cruise on Friday September 20th. The Chamber will give free homemade ice cream when the cruise participants arrive on the Princeton square. The Chamber also will be serving a supper that evening in the Senior Center building. As part of their entry fee for the tractor cruise, participants can eat free; others are asked to pay $5.00 per plate.
There will be music after the meal.
The Calamity Jane Days theme is Military, past, present and future. Organizers are renting a 60 foot long fallen hero wall to be viewed Wednesday through Saturday.
A recognition program for veterans is planned for Saturday evening September 21st at 7; with a candle lighting to follow. Veteran and current military photos will be displayed in the west window of the Famous. Chamber President Donna Herdrich is requesting the photos be taken to the Famous early so they may be copied and framed.
Among other announcements for Calamity Jane Days, Breadeaux Pizza and The Famous will sponsor the Children's Parade. The Baby Show has been moved a half hour later, to 9 a-m. The kids tractor pull by Kidpower will be at 3 o’clock on Saturday.
In an earlier event, the Queen contest for Calamity Jane Days will be August 3rd at the Princeton First Baptist Church. The theme is Red, White and Blue. Karla Meinke will be the emcee and provide musical entertainment.
