Two Injured In Daviess County Accident

Two vans collided on Route M in southern Daviess county injuring two persons from Lenexa, Kansas when their vehicle overturned.

The accident was three miles north of Breckenridge yesterday afternoon.

According to the highway patrol, a cargo van driven by 26 year old Justin Vaughn of Lenexa was westbound when a left turn was attempted but the vehicle skidded across the center line and went off the south side of Route M.

A mini van operated by 52 year old Donald Von Opitz of Jamesport was eastbound. The patrol said he attempted to avoid the approaching vehicle by pulling off the south side of the road.In the process, the patrol explained Vaughn's van returned to the road with the driver's side colliding with the front driver's side of Von Opitz's vehicle.

The report noted Vaughn's cargo van overturned onto its side. Both vehicles received extensive damage.

According to the highway patrol, Vaughn and a passenger received minor injuries while Von Opitz was not hurt. All persons were using seat belts.
The on-line accident report did not identify the passenger.
