Train Strikes Car Injures Higbee Woman

A Higbee woman was seriously injured Thursday night when her car was struck by a train in Higbee, Southwest of Moberly.

According to the Highway Patrol, the accident happened just before 9:00pm as a southbound vehicle, driven by 48 year-old Teresa Beal failed to yield to a westbound train at the South Randolph Street Crossing and was struck on the left side. The car was then drug off of the roadway causing it to strike a sign.

The car was then spun around and was hit by the train a second time, ejecting the driver. Beal was airlifted to a Columbia hospital for treatment. The report states that the crossing is clearly marked with both a Railroad Crossing and a Stop Sign.
