The North Central Missouri American Red Cross, based out of Kirksville, is doing their part to help the victims in need in Moore, Oklahoma by sending a volunteer to do social work. He’ll be making calls around the area to make sure that people dislocated by the horrific natural disaster get the resources they need to recover.

While Missouri volunteer, Barry, admits he likes to travel during his time volunteering, his dedication to help is much deeper.

“It's very humbling, but it makes you feel good that you're able to be out there helping people. With the world they way it is today, people walk by you on the street when you’re lying there dying. It's nice to know that there are people out there like the Red Cross that will stop and help and it feels good to be a part of that,” said Barry Shipley a Red Cross Volunteer.

When Barry isn't serving others out of state he helps people in need right here in in Linn county.
