Members of a new Hamilton Chamber of Commerce hit the ground running last Wednesday. In a meeting at The Caldwell County News office, the group appointed officers, discussed by-laws, set dues and developed a list of projects to get started on.
According to the The Caldwell County News website, Jessi Green will serve as president of the group, while Steve Nixdorf will be first vice-president, Sarah Galbraith is second vice-president and Lauri Poynter is secretary/treasurer.

After discussing generic by-laws and leaving instructions on reviewing them in the Chamber's new Google group, members voted to set dues at a minimum of $25 annually.

The group will tackle cleanup of the Penney Park as a first project and will coordinate the effort with the city and possibly the J. C. Penney Foundation. Other topics discussed last week include a flower project, helping promote the golf course and other recreational facilities, coordinating with local master gardeners to maintain plantings, fixing the mural or taking it down, investigating curbside recycling or cleanup of the recycling bins and some kind of shopping loyalty program.

The Chamber will meet again in a month on Wednesday at noon, on June 19. Anyone interested in joining may contact any of the officers or attend the meeting.
