|Residents of St. Joseph and Jamesport were injured on Sunday afternoon when a sports utility vehicle overturned on Highway 190, just south of Jamesport.|
The Highway Patrol described injuries as SERIOUS for 17-year old Skyler Lane of St. Joseph. He was flown by medical helicopter to Truman Medical Center. A passenger, 19-year old Paiten Hamilton of Jamesport, received minor injuries and declined treatment at the scene.
The investigator said the SUV was southbound at "high speed" when Lane apparently engaged the emergency brake as the vehicle entered a curve. The SUV began to slide, went off the west side of 190, returned to the road, before traveling off it again where it overturned, hit the ground, and came to a rest upright.
The vehicle was demolished. Miss Hamilton was wearing a seat belt while Lane was not.
