A Meadville High School student, Jessica Triplett, is among 16 seniors in Missouri receiving an "Outstanding Achievement in Citizenship" award for this year. The recognition was given by the Missouri State Board of Education and the Missouri Bar.
Every public high school in Missouri is eligible to nominate one senior for the award. Students are selected based on academic achievement in civics and government courses, performance in civics and government-related extracurricular activities, and exemplary community service. Students must also submit an essay about the importance of citizenship to them and to the United States.

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education conducts the awards competition with the assistance and financial support of the Missouri Bar. The award has been given since 1990.
