
Trenton wrestlers go three-for-three in state semifinals

| The Trenton Bulldog wrestlers, in the Friday night session of the Class 1 state tournament at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, swept their three matches, to become the only school in the state to advance three wrestlers into Saturday night's championship round. Trenton's 170 pound senior Jacob Spillman made quick work of Curtis Quick of Sherwood in their Friday morning state quarterfinal, earning a pin at the 1:43 mark of their match. In the state semifinal against Zach Black of Lone Jack High School, Spillman advanced with a 10-5 decision. Spillman will wrestle Max Mickey of Holden in Saturday night's state championship.
At 113 pounds, Trenton's Carlos Gonzalez pinned Jerin Hudgens of Carrollton in Friday morning's state quarterfinal at 3:17 into the match. Gonzalez, in the state semifinals, advanced with a pin of Lathrop's Caleb Osborn at 3:17 of that Friday night encounter, advancing Gonzalez into Saturday night's 113 pound championship match with 45-4 Jake Gipson of Plattsburg.
At 152 pounds, Mason Mounce of THS pinned Maverick Griffin of Kansas City O'Hara at the 4:26 mark of their Friday morning state quarterfinal. In Friday night's state semifinal, Mounce won a 15-0 technical fall over Nick Maxwell of Herculaneum. Mounce will wrestle 51-2 Rodney Hahn of Whitfield High School in the state championship match.
