NCMC swept in Saturday double-dip in St. Louis

|The North Central Missouri College women's and men's basketball teams both struggled from the field on Saturday afternoon, falling to Region XVI rival St. Louis in games played at the Forest Park gymnasium in St. Louis, and broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com.|
In the opener, the Lady Pirates lost to St. Louis for the second time this season (the first loss was in double overtime in Trenton last month), falling to the Archers by a final score of 68-49. St. Louis was led by a strong backcourt, with Chanese Washington scoring 25 points (15 in the second half), with Kalah Martin adding 18. The win improves the Archer women to 15-9 on the season, and 4-3 in Region XVI play. The Lady Pirates, now 12-14 overall, and 1-5 in Region XVI, had 12 points from Kelsey Griffin, 11 from Mysti Williams, and 10 points from Lexi Hope. The Lady Pirates continue Region XVI play this week, traveling to Nevada, Missouri on TUESDAY night to play Cottey College at 6 o'clock. On Wednesday night, the NCMC women play at Wentworth Military Academy (Lexington) in a 5:30 tip.
The Pirate men fell to the host St. Louis Archers by a final score of 70-54, with St. Louis improving to 19-9 overall, and 2-3 in Region XVI play with the win. The Pirates drop to 12-12 overall, and 2-3 in Region XVI play. St. Louis will HOST Penn Valley on Wednesday night, with North Central playing at Wentworth Military Academy.
In Saturday's loss, North Central sophomore Darreon Parker led all scorers with 17 points, while freshman Tyler Peterson of Savannah, Missouri scored 10. For St. Louis, Evan Jones and Cameron Hicks each scored 12 points, with Nick Lawshe scoring 11.
