NCMC teams 'tune up' for St. Louis trip with homecourt victories

|The North Central Missouri College basketball teams have gone unbeaten through a combined three games played at the Ketcham Community Center this week, with the Pirate men beating JV squads from Central College (Pella, Iowa) and Culver-Stockton College, while the Lady Pirates defeated Marshalltown Community College on Monday night.|
The Lady Pirates beat Marshalltown on Monday night by a score of 78-62, with Amanda Rodenberg scoring a game-high 22 points for NCMC. Samone Redditt added 16, Mysti Williams 15, and Kelsey Griffin 13 points for the Lady Pirates, now 12-13 on the season.
Mady Van Metre had 25 points and Shakeria Slade 11 for Marshalltown.
The NCMC men, on Monday night, beat Central College of Pella, Iowa 80-74.
Darreon Parker led the Pirates attack with 15 points, while Jordan Griffin and Eric McDaniel each scored 14.
For the Central College JV, Nile Eckermann had 26 points, with Aaron Rosentiel scoring 13, and Andrew Fritz 11.
On Wednesday night, the North Central men downed the visiting Culver-Stockton JV by a score of 94-80.
NCMC had a 50-48 lead at the half, and was able to extend the advantage to 14 points by the end of the contest.
Eric McDaniel led the Pirates with 27 points, with Eddie Poland scoring 12, Tyler Peterson 11, and Marshon Norfleet and Reggie Maxwell 10 points apiece.
The North Central women and men will travel to St. Louis to play the Archers in Region XVI doubleheader action on Saturday afternoon. The women's game tips at 1 o'clock, with the men's game at 3 o'clock. Pregame is at 12:55 on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com. With their two victories so far this week, the Pirate men have improved to 12-11 overall and remain 2-2 in Region XVI play.
In high school basketball from Monday night, the Winston Redbirds swept an HDC Conference doubleheader from the visiting Ridgeway Owls, winning the girls game 51-18 and the boys game 46-45, giving the Ridgeway boys their first conference loss of the season.
