Secretary of State Jason Kander has announced grants for libraries in Mercer and Livingston Counties. Each allocation is called an "eReader exploration grant". The Livingston County Library in Chillicothe was awarded $1,750 while the Mercer County Library of Princeton was allocated $966.00.
The two libraries will use the money to purchase eReader devices, and provide training to staff, volunteers, and patrons. The Missouri Secretary of State's eReader exploration grants are funded by the Library Services and Technology Act through the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, which is the primary source of federal support for the nation's 122,000 libraries and 17,500 museums.

The Missouri State Library has approved 95 grant applications this fiscal year, distributing nearly $559,000 in federal awards to libraries statewide.
