|Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox reports an arrest has been made stemming from investigations into an alleged felony assault with a weapon, kidnapping, and endangering the welfare of a child. The incident began in another county, and led through Carroll into Livingston County.|
The vehicle was spotted in Livingston County where a male suspect was taken into custody. A female individual was taken to Hedrick Medical Center (Chillicothe) for treatment, while a youth of juvenile-age was physically unharmed and taken into protective custody.
The investigation between Livingston and Carroll County authorities alleges that the suspect vehicle and driver had been traveling at excessive speeds (near 100 MPH), threatened to hit oncoming traffic, the man physically assaulted the female in the car, and stabbed her in the upper leg, resulting in serious injury. It is also alleged that threats were made to murder the woman, the juvenile, and another family member. The suspect is also alleged to have been in possession of illegal drug(s) and drug paraphernalia.
Thirty-seven year old Christopher Ryan Carpenter of Independence has been arrested for alleged Kidnapping, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and DWI (under drugs). Carpenter was released to the Carroll County Sheriff for their formal charges as the alleged stabbing and other crimes took place in Carroll County. Carpenter remains in custody of the Carroll County Sheriff and a report is being submitted to Livingston County Prosecuting Attorney Adam Warren for consideration of criminal charges.
