Livingston County authorities warn of 'suspicious' Facebook account, potential danger to children

The Livingston County Sheriff's Department has received information about a specific Facebook profile where a person is claiming to be an adult, with the last name "Crawford", and living in an 'unknown location'. Sheriff Steve Cox said that profile has been in contact with numerous young people, who are also on Facebook.
The person has sent 'many friend requests to children as young as third grade, through 11th grade, and possibly more'. The investigation shows at least a few of the juveniles have since been notified to contact a 'specific phone number', that has been linked to locations in New York City and Chicago. Both numbers list 'numerous complaints about them' which could indicate that someone is either 'trying to scam people' or possibly 'begin lewd conversation and/or conduct with children'.

Sheriff Cox has personally notified many parents who have children that have been 'friended' by this suspect's profile. Now, this information is being announced publicly so that all area parents and their children can be alerted about 'potential dangers that exist'.

Information has been shared with Livingston County Prosecuting Attorney Adam Warren, with a report expected to be submitted to federal authorities in the near future.
