The Trenton Bulldogs will open district wrestling competition this coming Friday night, February 8th, at South Harrison High School in Bethany. The tournament will continue into Saturday, February 9th. Trenton wrestled last week at Higginsville (Thursday) and at the Lexington Tournament (Saturday).
At Higginsville, Trenton wrestled ten matches against the Huskers, and won six (all by pin). However, open weights hurt Trenton in the points race, with Higginsville claiming the 40-36 win. Coach Charlie Bacon said he was "extremely proud of the way his kids wrestled".

In the Thursday evening dual, Trenton 170 pounder Jacob Spillman suffered his first loss of the season, coming by 3-2 decision against Higginsville's Eain Gash. Higginsville also had points from Trenton's open weights at 106, 182, 195, and 220 pounds. Higginsville 'on the mat' wins came from Levi Kreie, at 120 pounds against Colby Weaver (via pin); Scout Raney, by 14-3 major decision over Wynne DeVorss at 126 pounds; and from heavyweight Dalton Wiley, who earned a 7-3 decision against Trenton's Terrin Ellis.

Trenton's individual victories at Higginsville all came by pin, with Carlos Gonzalez winning at 113 (in 14 seconds); Dalton Ellis at 132 (at 20 seconds); Caleb Feagins at 138 (in 2:19); Travis Leeper at 145 (in 24 seconds); Mason Mounce at 152 (at 5:15); and Thomas Mack at 160 pounds (in a 19 second pin). Coach Bacon also told KTTN that "iit was easy to see which team came out fired up and ready to go with great technique, unfortunately it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit against a team with no open weights".

On Saturday, the THS wrestlers had three team victories and two losses in a dual-style tournament at Lexington High School.

The twelve schools involved were divided into three pools, with Trenton winning all three duals in its pool. Trenton beat Boonville 46-25, defeated Tipton 48-24, and edged Knob Noster 39-36.

Trenton then wrestled the winners of the two other pools, falling to Brookfield 41-27 and Lawson 45-30.

Trenton boys finishing in second place were Kaden Owen, Jesse Huber, and Eric Lovett. Third place finishes were earned by Riley Jones and Jarrod Hoselton, while Cole Whitham and Andrew Maxey-Hild had fourth place finishes.

The Trenton Kids wrestlers will see action this coming Saturday (February 9th) at Gallatin.
