Lake Viking "Polar Plunge" scheduled for Saturday, February 2nd

The annual Polar Plunge at Lake Viking, held to raise money for Special Olympics Missouri, will be Saturday, February 2nd. This is a project of the Lake Viking Association, the Daviess County Sheriff's Department, and the Chillicothe and Crossroads Correctional Centers. Registration for the plunge starts at 12 noon at the Lake Viking Clubhouse, with a parade of costumes at 1:30, and plunging beginning at 2 o'clock.
All proceeds from the event are to benefit the 1,000 Special Olympic athletes from northwest Missouri. Special Olympics includes year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

People taking a plunge will receive an official "Polar Plunge" shirt by raising a minimum of $75.00. Participants must be at least 10 years old. People interested in participating are asked to contact the Northwest Area office of Special Olympics in St. Joseph. Registration can also be done ONLINE at www.somo.org/plunge.
