|Multiple news agencies, including ESPN, are now reporting that former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid has reached an agreement to become the next head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, with contract terms being finalized and reviewed by attorneys for each side.|
Reid's contract agreement comes at roughly the same time as the departure of General Manager Scott Pioli was announced by the Chiefs, as an agreement was made in that case that Pioli leave after four seasons at Arrowhead Stadium.
Reid spent the last 14 seasons as Philadelphia's head coach, going to five NFC Championship games and one Super Bowl in that time, but never winning the Super Bowl for the Eagles, a franchise that has not won a World Championship since 1960. He won 10 playoff games in Philadelphia during this time there.
The 47-year old Pioli leaves Kansas City after failing to turn around a Chiefs franchise that has not won a playoff game since 1993. Before his time in Kansas City, Pioli spent nine seasons in New England, where he helped to build the Patriots dynasty. In four seasons in Kansas City, Pioli's Chiefs were 23-39, including 2-14 in the just-completed 2012 season.
