Trenton girls, Gallatin boys remain unbeaten in Friday doubleheader at THS

The Trenton Lady Bulldogs survived a strong test from Gallatin on Friday night, winning the front end of a girl's/boy's varsity doubleheader from Trenton High School by a score of 48-39, in action heard on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com.
Gallatin led the 7-0 Lady Bulldogs 8-7 after one quarter, and the game was tied (at 14) at the half, before Trenton seized control of the contest, outscoring Gallatin 17-2 in the third quarter, before a Sara Lin three-pointer cut Trenton's advantage to 31-19 at the quarter break. Gallatin made a couple of runs at Trenton in the fourth quarter, but each was held off by THS, with the home team moving to 8-0 with the win, and dropping Gallatin to 5-3.

Trenton's Makaila Capeder scored 14 points (all in the second half) to lead her squad to the win, with McKinley Hurley and Scotlin Hurley both scoring nine. Gallatin's Lin led all scorers with 16 points (including four three-point shots) with Aubrey Nelson adding eight.

The Trenton girls will look to go to 9-0 on TUESDAY night, playing at Marceline against the Lady Tigers (in a game to be broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com) at 6 o'clock.

For the second time this month, the Gallatin boys beat Trenton by double-digits. On December 1st, it was 66-55 Gallatin. On Friday night at THS, the story was very similar, as Gallatin broke open a tight game with a third-quarter surge, and held on in the fourth quarter for the win.

Friday's final was Gallatin 68, Trenton 56. Gallatin put three players in double figures, with Derrick Lin scoring 19 points (including five three point field goals), Chris Cameron 18, and Dexter Daniel 15. The Bulldogs are now 8-0 with the victory.

Trenton, in falling to 5-3, was led by junior guard Chase Tolson with 18 points, Austin Taul with 15, and Wilson Utley with 11 points. The Trenton boys play at Marceline on TUESDAY night at 7:30 (on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com).

Elsewhere, the Trenton Middle School boys "A" team ended their season on Friday night with a 28-26 loss to Brookfield. Connor Cotton led TMS with 11 points, with Corbyn Guile adding six, and Lathan Croy five points.

The Trenton Middle School girls lost 25-17 to Brookfield, despite five points from Lana Raymon and four each from Mackenzie Brandow and Samantha Mihalovich.

The Trenton "B" team boys beat Brookfield 33-12. Mason Owen had 16 points (including 4 three pointers) for TMS. Kade Ockenfels chipped in with eight points.
