|Silas Bohannan, a North Central Missouri College sophomore from Neosho, Missouri has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at the University of Missouri next fall. Bohannan (or, as he is known on the baseball field, “Sibo”) will play at Mizzou for his junior and senior years of athletic eligibility.|
At NCMC, Sibo is a right-handed pitcher and first baseman/designated hitter. However, at Mizzou, he will focus on pitching only. Sibo expects to be drafted by major league baseball in the spring but plans to honor his commitment to Mizzou unless “a major league opportunity is presented that is just too good to pass up,” he said.
Head NCMC Pirates Baseball Coach Donnie Hillerman remarked, “We currently have a great group of sophomores who are hard-working, focused and all about the success of the team. They are providing leadership for our freshman, and Sibo is a big part of that sophomore leadership. Having him on our team has been very enjoyable as he is extremely coachable and a perfect example of what we are about at NCMC. Sibo was virtually an unknown commodity coming out of high school, but he has worked very hard here at the community college level with a strong commitment toward success. It’s great to see an athlete develop this much and realize some of his potential. I believe he has more work to be done, and he has set some very high goals for himself. I am enormously proud of him and wish him well in the future in attaining those goals.”
Sibo is 6’4” and 255 pounds. He is the son of Billie and Mike Bohannan and a 2011 graduate of Neosho High School. He will complete his Associate in Arts degree from NCMC next spring.
