| The Trenton R-9 school district will proceed with plans to pour a concrete base and seek bids for new bleachers on the north side of C-F Russell Stadium. The board of education authorized Director of Supportive Services Dennis Gutshall to proceed after hearing his report on the proposed costs.
Heartland Seating Incorporated of Shawnee, Kansas visited the site and recommended 81 feet of bleachers on for the west end and 75 feet of bleachers for the east side. Combined, that's seating for 688. Gutshall said each would have eight rows with 12 inch rises to accommodate spectator viewing of football and track. It also will be A-D-A compliant.
Gutshall provided a quote indicating the cost of aluminum bleachers is 63 thousand, 500 dollars. Another 36-hundred is the estimate for the concrete. Weather permitting this fall, plans call for concrete pads to be poured with a local patron (anonymously) volunteering to do the work as long as the school district pays for concrete. Then, bid specs will be written; and bids will be submitted for board review.
Gutshall shared information with the school board pertaining to the potential replacement of an aging facility used as the bus barn. He provided a cost analysis for the school district to build a new structure OR have a private lease with someone else that would build, or currently has, a suitable facility. No decision was made by the board of education before it went into executive session where one of the topics was described as the proposed purchase of real estate.
Gutshall noted Trenton R-9 received 36 hundred dollars in rent from the new contractor, Apple Bus Company.
Following an executive session that included a real estate matter, the school board authorized Supt Becky Albrecht to approach the Trenton park department with renovation costs of ball fields nearest the high school/middle school in Trenton.
