Trenton senior Maddie Hooyman signs with Drake University

Trenton High School senior Maddie Hooyman, a shortstop on the Lady Bulldog softball team, signed a national letter of intent to continue her career at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, in a Thursday morning ceremony at Trenton High School.
Hooyman's senior season proved to be the most spectacular out of her four at THS, as she hit .475 with team highs in runs scored (37) and stolen bases (30), all while playing a superb shortstop position. Hooyman’s performance on the diamond earned her all-district, all-region and all-state recognition.

In an interview with Sports Director Tom Johnson, Hooyman said she felt connected with the Drake campus very quickly on her official visit:

Hooyman is the second Trenton High School softball senior to have committed to the collegiate level in the sport. Scotlin Hurley, a pitcher for Trenton High School, will play collegiately at North Central Missouri College in Trenton.
