Mooresville and Chillicothe men were injured early Monday afternoon in an accident on Highway 36, one mile east of Mooresville. The Highway Patrol said 46-year old David Hightower of Mooresville and 89-year old Roy Cope of Chillicothe were taken by ambulance to Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.
An updated accident report indicates Hightower's injuries were MODERATE, with Cope dealing with minor injuries.

The SUV driven by Hightower and a truck driven by Cope were both eastbound on U.S. 36. The Patrol's investigation says Cope was accelerating in the right side when Hightower's SUV struck Cope's truck in the rear corner and went off the roadway, then overturned onto its wheels off the south shoulder.

Hightower's SUV was demolished while Cope's truck had minor damage. Neither driver was using a seat belt.
