The Highway Patrol reports that two people were injured on Saturday afternoon, when the driver of a car attempted to pass another automobile that was attempting a left turn. This incident happened on U.S. Highway 65 west of Chula.
The driver of the passing car, 64-year old Cheryl Wallace, and a passenger in that vehicle, 68-year old Alvin Wallace, were taken to Hedrick Medical Center with minor injuries. The Wallace's are from Laclede.

The driver of the car making the turn, 24-year old Kendra Cox of Trenton, was not reported hurt. The accident was Saturday afternoon on Highway 65 at Livingston County Route K. The investigating officer said Ms. Cox was attempting a left turn from southbound Highway 65 to Route K while the southbound car driven by Cheryl Wallace attempted to pass in the intersection. The Patrol said the vehicle driven by Wallace hit the driver's side of the Cox car, sending the Wallace vehicle down an embankment, into a telephone utility box, and causing damage to a fence.

The Cox vehicle came to a controlled stop on the northbound shoulder of Highway 65. Damage was described as extensive to both cars.

The Patrol said Cheryl and Alvin Wallace were wearing seat belts, but Kendra Cox was not using a safety device.
