| In a high-scoring district semifinal game much closer than the final score would indicate, the Milan Wildcats moved to 10-0 on the football season with a decisive 63-27 victory over the Princeton Tigers on Wednesday night, in a game heard from Cal Hubbard Field on KTTN FM 92.3 and www.kttn.com. Princeton found no answers for the Wildcats' dominant ground attack, with Mason Thompson going for 26 carries, 288 yards, and three touchdowns on the ground, while adding a 23 yard scoring catch early in the second quarter to give Milan, at the time, its first lead of the night.
Aaron Richardson carried the football 20 times for 170 yards and two scores, while Brett Sinclair had seven carries for 86 yards. Jordan Eddy added a one-yard fumble return for a touchdown to get Milan on the board late in the first quarter, while sophomore kicker Raul Palacios connected on all nine of his extra point attempts.
Princeton was very competitive with Milan for three quarters, trailing by only 28-20 after the third stanza, only to wear down late, with the 'Cats scoring five touchdowns in the final quarter to cruise to their tenth win in a row.
Senior quarterback Colton Hartley proved to be a difficult stop for Milan's defense, throwing three touchdown passes to sophomore receiver Brant Faulkner, and scoring the first points of the night on a 4th-and-goal quarterback sneak from the one-yard line.
Milan is 10-0 with the victory, and now prepares for the 9-1 Salisbury Panthers on Monday night at 7 o'clock in the Class 1, District 6 championship game, also to be played at 'The Pit' in Milan (also on KTTN FM 92.3). Princeton ends the season with a record of 6-5.
