Savannah Savages win "Sweepstakes Award" at Saturday's Missouri Day Band Festival

Savannah High School won the Sweepstakes Award at the Missouri Day Marching Band Festival in Trenton on Saturday. The Savages had the highest combined scores from the parade and field show events, despite finishing second in both of those categories in Class 4.
In other highlights from the Band Festival, the Macon Tigers placed first in both field show and parade in Class 3. Macon also won four of the five field show captions in Class 3. No other band, regardless of class, won that many captions.

Among area bands, the Gallatin Bulldogs placed first in Class 2 in all three events in which it competed (parade, indoor auxiliary, and drum line). Gallatin did not enter the field show category.

First place finishers in the field show were DeKalb in Class 1, Lone Jack in Class 2, Macon in Class 3, Grandview in Class 4, and Oak Park in Class 5.

First place finishers in parade judging were Rock Port in Class 1, Gallatin in Class 2, Macon in Class 3, Oak Grove in Class 4, and Liberty North (the only entry) in Class 5.

First place finishers in indoor auxiliary were Linn County in Class 1, Gallatin in Class 2, Maryville in Class 3, Smithville in Class 4, and Staley in Class 5.

First place finishers in drum line were Moravia (Iowa) in Class 1, Gallatin in Class 2, Maryville in Class 3, Oak Grove in Class 4, and Oak Park in Class 5.
