Grundy Electric Cooperative, headquartered in Trenton, has been approved for $5,000,000 in federal loan guarantees to build and improve 18 miles of distribution line, and make other system improvements to serve 332 consumers. The loan amount includes $703,000 in "Smart Grid" projects.
Four other electric cooperatives in Missouri have also been approved for the federal loan guarantees in the latest round of funding.

The Rural Development Division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture says the loan guarantees are to finance "improved efficiency" and "modernization of rural electric generation and transmission systems".

The $168,000,000 in loan guarantees announced late last week for usage across the U.S. are being provided by U.S.D.A. Rural Development's Rural Utilities Service.
