|The Milan Wildcats, on the strength of a handful of big second half plays, were able to defeat upset-minded Knox County on Friday night, 32-18 at Cal Hubbard Field, in a game broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3.|
For all the positives done by the visiting Eagles in the game, it was the consistent Wildcat running game that provided the difference between the Tri-Rivers rivals, as Milan junior Aaron Richardson rushed for 219 yards and three touchdowns.
Defensively, Richardson was a huge factor as well, sacking the Knox County quarterback in the end zone for a third quarter safety, and forcing a fumble in addition to another sack in the ball game.
The Wildcats had the most difficulty in slowing down Knox County's passing game, giving up scoring passes of 11 yards to Kellen Gillaspy, 47 yards to Lee Tague, and 32 yards to Royce Poore during the game. Milan's Jordan Eddy was able to connect with Mason Thompson on a 25-yard scoring pass in the first quarter, a possession set up by a bad snap on an attempted Knox County punt.
Milan is now 4-0 overall, and 1-0 in the Tri-Rivers Conference, while Knox County falls to 3-2 overall (with losses to Marceline and Milan) and 1-1 in conference play. Milan plays this week AT Scotland County, with the 7:00 kickoff from Memphis on Friday night scheduled for broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3 and www.kttn.com, as Dennis Stephenson brings you the play-by-play call!
