Cameron outlasts Trenton in 14 inning marathon

|Trenton traveled to Cameron on Thursday night and played a marathon 14 inning battle with the Lady Dragons. Cameron jumped on the Bulldogs early, scoring the first two runs of the game in the bottom of the first inning, with three THS errors making things difficult on the "Black and Gold".|
Trenton would do all of their scoring in the top of the third when Maddie Hooyman would reach on a single to left and move on to second on a sacrifice bunt by Madi Trump. Hooyman would score on an RBI single by Scotlin Hurley, with Avery Whitaker following with a single of her own, with the runners advancing to second and third on a sac bunt by Makaila Capeder.
Kate Lowrey came through with the biggest Trenton hit of the game with a two-run single to center field, giving Trenton the lead 3-2. The score would stay that way until the bottom of the 5th when Cameron tied the game, 3-3.
The game would stay scoreless in until the bottom of the 14th inning when Cameron would score the winning run on a one out double to deep left center field. Trenton was able to hit the ball all night, collecting 16 hits, but could never seem to get a hit with runners in scoring position after the third inning. The Lady Bulldogs also committed an uncharacteristic seven errors in the field on the night.
Trenton was led by Maddie Hooyman, who was 5-7 with a run. Rahel Horner was 3-4, Scotlin Hurley was 2-6 with an RBI and a run, Avery Whitaker was 2-5 with a run. Scotlin Hurley went the distance on the mound, going 13.2 innings, giving up 2 earned runs on 9 hits and 2 walks while striking out 13. Trenton drops to 14-2 and will play in the Mid-Buchanan Tournament on Saturday.
Due to the length of the varsity game, the JV game only lasted 3 innings with Trenton coming out on top 5-0. Daryian Otto went three innings, striking out 5 and also had a triple at the plate. Tosha Wilson had a double, a walk and a run. Abby Miller had a hit and Megan Lynch scored one of the Trenton runs.
