Sheriff Rodney Herring said Grundy County received multiple 9-1-1 phone calls at 1 o'clock regarding a shooting at a home in Galt. Sheriff Herring identified the victim as 32 year old Christopher Molloy: a resident of the home at 200 North Main that he shared with 37 year old Stephanie Miller.

Upon arrival, Sheriff Herring said Molloy was dead at the scene after being shot with a small caliber hand-gun. A 34 year old Galt man was taken into custody at the scene after allegedly telling the sheriff he had shot Molloy after a disturbance had occurred.

The suspect is held at the Grundy County Detention Center pending the filing of charges. Herring said information has been submitted to the prosecuting attorney requesting murder charges.

The name of the suspect has not been released pending the filing of charges.

Herring declined to comment when asked how many shots were fired. He noted the hand gun was the only weapon involved and it's been confiscated
for evidence. Herring reported the criminal investigation had pretty much concluded by Thursday night. There were no other injuries reported.

In an unrelated matter, Stephanie Miller was taken into custody Thursday on a felony warrant accusing her for the reported theft of a credit card August 3rd. HER bond is 15 thousand dollars pending an appearance Tuesday in associate division of the Grundy County Circuit Court.
