A two story house, plus basement, just west of Chillicothe has been destroyed by fire. Early Tuesday morning, the 9-1-1 call center at the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a residence on fire on Old Highway 190.
Now, Sheriff Steve Cox reports a criminal investigation is underway. A representative of the State Fire Marshal’s office was called to the scene at 11-638 Old Highway 190 to help determine the cause of the fire. S

heriff Cox said the house was the location of a Court-ordered lock out recently. Essentially, the sheriff’s office was required by the Court to assist in changing actual possession of the property. The deputies reported at that time, one of the occupants allegedly openly
made comment they would burn the house.

A report today from Chillicothe Fire Chief Darrell Wright lists the home as vacant.
The house was fully engulfed with flames when firefighters arrived shortly after 4:30.
It was totally destroyed. The department remained at the scene nearly four hours this
morning; noting the fire had been extinguished; debris collapsed into the basement.

The Chillicothe Department of Emergency services received assistance from Chula, Utica and Wheeling Fire Departments which provided tankers with water.
