THS softball rolls to shutouts of visiting Lathrop

|The Trenton Lady Bulldog offense reached double of figures for the second straight night, this time against Lathrop in a 10-0 Tuesday night victory at Mark Griffin Memorial Field.|
Senior Maddie Hooyman got the offense rolling in the first when she reached on an error, stole second and then scored on a double by Madi Trump. Trump would then steal third and score on Scotlin Hurley's single. Hurley stole second and then scored on a single by Kate Lowrey, with Lowrey stealing second and third and scoring on a ground out by Makaila Capeder. Trenton ended the first up 4-0.
Hooyman would score again in the second on a sacrifice fly by Trump. After singling, Hurley came home on another single by Kate Lowrey. The Bulldogs added two more in the third and one each in the fourth and fifth for the 10-0 victory. Hooyman was 2-4 with 2 runs and 2 stolen bases; Trump went 1-4 with 2 RBI and a SB; while Hurley went 3-3 with 3 runs, an RBI and a SB.
Kate Lowrey went 2-3 with 2 RBI and 2 steals. Rahel Horner went 2-3 with 2 runs scored, and Scotlin Hurley was nearly untouchable on the mound, allowing only one hit and one walk while striking out nine Lady Mules as the Lady Bulldogs improved to 8-1 on the season.
Trenton will be in action Thursday at Milan (at 5 o'clock) in a game that was just added to the schedule on Tuesday afternoon.
The Trenton JV team beat Lathrop by a score of 12-0. Daryian Otto pitched another shutout, allowing one hit in four innings while striking out eight opposing hitters. Tosha Wilson, Megan Lynch, Maggie McNabb and Lexie Tolson each scored two runs on the night, while Mallory Hooyman contributed one hit and two RBI's.
Trenton Middle School softball won two games on Tuesday night at the Ebbe Sports Complex. In game one, the score was 15-1 over four innings. Ashten Whitaker was the winning pitcher and helped herself with nine strikeouts.
In the second game, which lasted three innings, the score was 10-1. Claire Utley got the victory with seven strikeouts to her credit.
The TMS teams will play again on Monday, September 17th against Putnam County (in Unionville).
