Princeton falls to Maysville in GRC softball showdown (plus Tuesday scoreboard)

The Maysville Lady Wolverines scored three runs in the top of the second inning, and held to the lead for the rest of the night, beating Princeton 5-2 in a Grand River Conference softball game at Gentry Field last (Tuesday) night.
Princeton's defense cost the Lady Tigers in the second, as Maysville had taken a 1-0 lead, only to see two errors by the home team help the visitors to a 3-0 lead.

Princeton rallied back into the game with a single run in the third inning and another in the fourth. The third inning run scored on an RBI single by Shaylee Henley that drove in Nancy Berwanger, while the fourth inning tally was brought in by sophomore Rachelle Parks, courtesy of a Maysville error.

With Maysville's lead shaved down to 3-2, the Lady Wolverines added two runs in the top of the fifth inning, with both teams remaining scoreless from that point on.

Princeton Coach Chrystal Mayfield said the five errors by Princeton were "too many", and that will need to be addressed if the Lady Tigers want to be successful the remainder of the season.

Princeton's record is 5-5, and 3-2 in the Grand River Conference. The Maysville JV beat Princeton 17-2, dropping the Lady Tiger JV to a record of 2-3.
