Dawn man accused of criminal acts in last week's shooting incident

| A 36-year old Dawn man, David Hughes, has been accused of Second Degree Assault, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon in connection with shots being fired last Wednesday night (September 5th) in Dawn.
Hughes is accused of firing a gun towards Brandi Thompson and Paul Estes while they were on a back porch. Authorities said Hughes was then wounded by return fire from a handgun used by Estes.
Hughes was subsequently hospitalized. No other people were hurt. Authorities said three shots were fired into an unoccupied pickup truck owned by Estes, that was parked in front of the residence.
