|Green Hills Community Action Agency is seeking Ameren customer homes to weatherize for free in their nine county service area. Persons falling at 200% of Federal Poverty Guidelines or below qualify for this program. |
A family with one person living in the household with an annual income of $22,340, a two person household with an income of $30,260 annually, a three person household with an annual income of $38,180, a family of 4 with an income of $46,100 or a family of 5 with an income of $54,020 will qualify for this service.
GHCAA utilizes certified energy auditors to examine the home to determine which weatherization items are needed. Typical things done to the home include attic insulation, foundation insulation, wall insulation, clean and tune of furnaces, caulking, and weather-stripping. Rental properties are eligible with the landlord paying $300 of the cost of weatherizing the home.
The agency has a record of decreasing air infiltration into the home by 30 to 40 percent. This results in significant savings on utility bills. The application process is very simple to complete. Contact your local GHCAA today to have an application mailed to you. Persons with questions about the program are encouraged to call Terri Henderson or Alicia Roy at 660-359-3907 or toll free (855)290-8544.
