|The Princeton Lady Tigers evened their softball record at 2-2 on Monday night with a 10-4 victory over the Chillicothe JV at Danner Park in Chillicothe. Sophomore Chelsie Jones picked up the win for Princeton with a complete game seven-hitter, giving up four runs, only two of them earned.|
Chillicothe took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the first inning, only to see Princeton storm back with three runs in the second to tie the game, and a decisive seven-run outburst in the fifth inning to take the lead. A run by the Lady Hornets in the bottom of the seventh inning proved to be well too short to complete a rally of multiple runs.
For the Lady Tigers offense, Shaylee Henley had a bases-clearing triple in the fifth inning, part of a three-hit night that included singles in the second and fourth. Princeton is continuing to struggle defensively, committing six errors behind Jones on the night, falling short of their stated goal of less than "four errors per game", as indicated by head coach Chrystal Mayfield.
Rachelle Parks scored a pair of runs for Princeton and Paige Phillips contributed two RBI's. In her winning pitching effort, Chelsie Jones did not walk a Chillicothe batter, and had five strikeouts. The win evens Princeton's season record at 2-2, going into a Tuesday night home game with Albany, followed by a Thursday night road trip to Gallatin.
