|Gallatin Police have arrested 26 year old Jonathan Ray Lee Parker of Gallatin on multiple charges following investigation into an alleged child abduction incident on Wednesday morning in Gallatin. |
Police Chief Mark Richards reports the incident occurred at the corner of South Main and Mill Street. Officers responded to the call and found that Parker had allegedly taken his juvenile daughter from her mother by force after she had left the dentist office.
It has been further alleged that while he was taking the daughter, he assaulted his wife by hitting her with his vehicle in the process of fleeing the scene. Officers from several local agencies, including the Gallatin Police Department, Daviess County Sheriff's Department, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol searched the area for Parker and his daughter.
The defendant was arrested after Gallatin Police Chief Richards was able to contact Parker by phone and negotiate for the man to bring his daughter to the Gallatin Police station and turn himself in. Jonathan Parker is being held in the Daviess-DeKalb County Jail in Pattonsburg while formal charges are requested through the Daviess County Prosecutor.
According to Chief Richards, charges could include Parental Kidnapping (which is a felony) plus two misdemeanors: Domestic Assault and Peace Disturbance.
