Burn ban temporarily lifted for RURAL Livingston County

Date 2012/7/27 12:25:46 | Topic: News

The Livingston County Commission has TEMPORARILY lifted a burn ban for parts of Friday and Saturday for all of Livingston County, except the city of Chillicothe. Burning WILL be allowed on Friday from dawn until dusk and Saturday from dawn to dusk, with the burn ban going back into effect Saturday night at dusk, again for ALL areas of Livingston County outside Chillicothe.
The ban is being lifted for "necessary burning" only. NO large area burning of fields will be allowed. It is for the burning of home trash and debris, or similar items.

All burning needs to be in a container at least 15 feet from a structure. The fire is to be constantly attended by a "responsible person at least 15 year old". The burning also needs to be attended from ignition until it is completely extinguished. There must be a water hose, or other extinguishing device available for immediate use.

Those in violation of a Livingston County fire ordinance are responsible for Fire Department expenses brought about by extinguishing such a blaze. Chillicothe Fire Department Chief Darrell Wright says the burn ban in Chillicothe itself DOES remain in effect until further notice, due to ongoing drought conditions in the area.
