BURN BANS FOR SPICKARD, GALT, RURAL GRUNDY COUNTY
Date 2012/7/2 13:00:00 | Topic: KTTN/KGOZ BULLETIN!
|Unincorporated areas of Grundy county have been added to the announcement by the communities of Spickard AND GALT that are publicly announcing a burn BAN, effective immediately.|
The burn ban within the incorporated city limits of both Spickard and Galt also includes banning the use of fireworks in both Spickard and Galt only.
However, the Grundy county commission says individual use of fireworks in the Unincorporated or rural areas of Grundy County has NOT been banned. It is being recommended persons planning to shoot off fireworks to soak the ground first;
then also have a garden hose nearby in the event of fire. Extremely dry conditions have prompted the bans on outdoor burning which are in effect until further notice.
Spickard Mayor Jessie Richmond spoke late this morning with KTTN's noting the decision was made in consultation with the Spickard Board of Aldermen. The decision to have the ban on open burning and fireworks at Galt was made by Mayor James Lea (LEE) in consultation with that town's Board of Aldermen also out of safety concerns for the public and properties. As of mid-day (Monday), the city of Trenton had made NO change in local plans for the community fireworks show as well as individual use of fireworks on Wednesday. The burn ADVISORY, issued on Friday for CITY OF TRENTON, is still in effect
as weather conditions continue to be monitored.
