I-35 accident injures Pattonsburg couple

The Highway Patrol said two Pattonsburg residents were injured when the driver of a car fell asleep, and the car went off Interstate 35 and hit a tree stump north of the Winston exit.
The driver, 85 year old Marvin Searcy, and a passenger, 81 year old Nita Searcy, both of Pattonsburg, were taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center. The Patrol said both had MODERATE injuries.

The Saturday afternoon wreck was two miles north of the Winston exit on Interstate 35. The car was northbound when it went off the right side of the road and hit the tree stump. The vehicle was demolished. Both people were wearing seat belts.
