The vehicles came to rest in the shoulder and ditch of the intersection respectively, with Pop refusing treatment at the scene for what the Highway Patrol described as minor injuries.

Chapman suffered injuries described as SERIOUS by the Highway Patrol, and was taken by Lifeflight helicopter to Truman Medical Center in Kansas City for treatment.
