Children are invited to outdoor events this Saturday, June 2nd, at a campground west of Trenton. The National Wild Turkey Federation sponsors its annual JAKES Day events starting at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Activities are designed for boys and girls age 5 to 15. They will need to be accompanied by a parent and / or guardian. Drinks will be provided.
The location for JAKES Day is the new boy and girl scouts camp, west of Trenton, along Highway 6. Some activities will include archery, air rifles, tomahawks, backyard bass, and Jacob's ladder. There's a raffle for a 22 caliber rifle and B-B gun. Events are offered free of charge but organizers are encouraging the children to sign up to a JAKES member. The cost is ten dollars.

JAKES is an acronym for Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics, and Sportsmanship. It is a program to introduce youth to hunting, fishing, camping and the outdoors.
