The North Central Missouri College Foundation has announced the establishment of athletic scholarships in memory of Mark and Rebekah Whiteaker, former Trenton residents. The $10,000 contribution will allow for four $500 scholarships each year, beginning with the 2012-2013 academic year.
At the request of the Whiteaker's, the monies are restricted for use in the athletic department and will be shared equally with the four sports offered at NCMC (men's and women's basketball, women's softball, and men's baseball).

Whiteaker was a member of the North Central Missouri College Board of Trustees for 18 years including four years as Board President. He also served as a high school football coach and junior college basketball coach in Trenton. Prior to that, he coached at Princeton and Maysville High Schools. He died in 2005 and his wife died in 2010.

Attorney Allan Seidel presented NCMC Director of Development Steve Maxey with the $10,000 check creating the scholarships. Previous memorial contributions in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Whiteaker will be added to the balance of the scholarship fund.
