|Kansas City Power and Light says about 1100 customers lost electrical service Saturday night in the Trenton, Tindall, and Spickard areas.|
KCPL spokesperson, Courtney Hughley said the outage was attributed to a problem with a substation transformer. She said the cause of the problem was not immediately determined.
Ms. Hughley said about half of the customers had power restored in around 15 minutes by switching those customers to another circuit. However, the remainder of the customers had an outage of nearly 4 hours.
KTTN was knocked off the air by the power outage. Although, KTTN-FM broadcasting was able to resume overnight, KTTN-AM remained off the air this morning because of an Internet related problem. KTTN-AM returned to the air around 10 o'clock this morning.
