|EARLHAM, Ia. (AP) - A 2-year-old girl has died after she was found in a ditch filled with water and taken by helicopter to a Des Moines hospital around noon on Wednesday.|
The Dallas County Sheriff's Office and Iowa State Patrol responded just before 11 a.m. to a house in the 3300 block of Houston Trail in southern rural Dallas County on a report that the girl, Deja Ramynke, was missing, according to a press release.
Ramynke was reported missing after she had been playing in a yard with two other children, said Iowa State Patrol Sgt. Scott Bright. A trooper found the girl face-down in a ditch filled with water approximately 100 yards from the house, he said.
The trooper started CPR on the 2-year-old before she was taken to the Blank Children's Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to a press release. The child's body has been taken to the state medical examiner's office to determine a cause of death.
