|Grundy County Commissioners do not plan to pursue a fireworks ordinance for rural areas of the County.|
The Grundy County Sheriff's office already responds to state law regarding illegal fireworks.
It's unclear whether the sheriff's office could enforce an ordinance that goes beyond the types of fireworks prohibited by state law. If not, a code officer would be needed---something Grundy County and other counties in the same classification are not required to have.
Commissioners also indicated more regulations are not needed.
The possibility of creating a county fireworks ordinance was originated by Trenton Fire Chief, Rick Morris. Commissioners said Morris does not want to see persons get hurt by fireworks.
The Missouri State Fire Marshal's office is available to the County Commission for consultation on the fireworks topic.
Grundy County Commissioners also adopted a code of ethics---something the Missouri Ethics Commission requires every 2 years.
