Gooseberry Festival Run/Walk Results

|The Gooseberry Festival 5 and 10 kilometer run/walk events Saturday at Trenton had 147 participants finish the route. They came from 23 communities and 6 states.|
92 females and 55 males completed their race.
The overall 1st place finishers in the divisions for males were Derek McClure of Bethany in the 5k with a time of 20 minutes 17 seconds and Michael Witten of Trenton in the 10k with a clocking of 39 minutes 40 seconds.
Derek McClure was in the ages 15 and 16 division while Michael Witten was in the ages 20 to 24 category.
The overall 1st place finishers in the divisions for females was Pam Bowden of Trenton in the 5k with a time of 25 minutes 7 seconds and Hadley Jennings of Trenton in the 10k at 53 minutes 3 seconds.
Pam Bowden was in the ages 35 to 39 division. Hadley Jennings was in the ages 20 to 24 category.
The Gooseberry Festival run/walk event attracted participants from Trenton, Galt, Laredo, Spickard, Jamesport, Chillicothe, Bethany, Browning, Winston, St. Joseph, Maryville, Kirksville, Excelsior Springs, Independence, Kansas City, Overland Park, Kansas; Centerview, Columbia, Tipton, Winter Park, Colorado; Boise, Idaho; Rocklin, California; and Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.
The event was coordinated by the Grundy County Health Department.
Medals were given to the top 3 finishers in each age group. Event organizer Abby Oberman of the health department thanked the Nick and Cheri McHargue family for donating the medals, H & R Block for donating bottled water, and Preceptor Nu for its help with the event. Persons who did not receive their medal may get it at the Grundy County Health Department in Trenton on Friday.
