Grant City Teen Injured In Saturday Morning Accident

A Grant City resident was hurt Saturday morning when the van he was driving went off Highway 169 in Gentry County, hit a field entrance, became airborne and rolled several times before coming to rest on its wheels.

Seventeen year old Austin Carlson of Grant City was thrown from the van. He was taken to Northwest Medical Center at Albany, then flown by medical helicopter to Heartland Regional Medical Center at St. Joseph with serious injuries.

The accident happened one mile south of Gentry on Highway 169. The van was southbound when it went off the left side of the road. The van was demolished.

Carlson was not wearing a seatbelt.
