|Entries are sought for North Central Missouri Fair Queen. The competition will be held July 27th at 5 o'clock with the coronation occurring two nights later, on July 29th, at 7 o'clock.|
Rebecca Steinhoff of Trenton, the fair board secretary, is the coordinator for the fourth annual contest.
There's no cost for women ages 17 to 21 to enter the fair queen contest. Participants from 4-H clubs and F-F-A chapters submit an application and a photo to Mrs. Steinhoff in care of the Grundy R-5 School, 205 Southwest Border Street, in Galt by the July 1st deadline. The application requests honors and awards; activities; future plans; and why they want to be N-C-M fair queen.
July 27th competition will be on the stage of the Hoover Theater at the Grundy County Jewett Norris library. The judges interview, closed to the public, is worth 40 percent. The talent or public speaking portion accounts for another 40 percent.
An evening gown event, with an extemporaneous question, is 20 percent. All of the
contestants are required to participate in the fair parade at 5:30 Tuesday July 29th.
Coronation is at 7 o'clock that night in the courtyard next to the Rock Barn.
The queen receives choice of a 350 dollars scholarship to NCMC OR 300 dollar scholarship to their school of choice. The queen receives a tiara, sash, bouquet of flowers, and has her entry fee paid to next year's Missouri State Fair queen contest.
First and second runners-up receive 100 dollar scholarships to the school of their choice
and flowers. The fair queen events July 27th and 29th are free for the public to attend.
