Second Harvest and First Assembly of God are offering what's called a No Hunger Summer in Trenton.

Free lunches will be served to youths ages 18 and younger Mondays through Fridays from 11:30 until 1 o'clock June 23rd through August 15th.

It's part of Second Harvest Community Food Bank's summer feeding program for children and their families. Youths ages 18 and younger eat free. There are no income restrictions.

The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, a grant from ConAgra, and Second Harvest money.

Second Harvest serves a 19 county area in northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas. It says, in its service area, over 17,000 children suffer form hunger and food insecurity. Second Harvest Director of Programs, Christine Feuerbacher, says many of those children receive assistance through the national school lunch program----but in the summer months, the children may go without proper nutrition. That's why Second Harvest Community Food Bank developed No Hunger Summer.
